MARSHALL, Marin County — October 31, 2026. Miller Boat Launch, 23240 State Highway 1, is a public access point for boaters, kayakers, anglers and visitors to the eastern shore of Tomales Bay. Marin County Parks operates the four-acre site and publishes rules that are easy to overlook when planning a trip.
What facilities are available?
The county park page lists a two-lane boat ramp, dock, parking, toilets and picnic tables. The dock, paths and restrooms are described as accessible. The site is beside Nick’s Cove and is generally open sunrise to sunset, subject to posted notices.
Is parking free?
Day parking is free, but overnight parking requires a permit. If visitors are boat-in camping at Point Reyes National Seashore, the county says a copy of the National Park Service camping permit should be displayed on the dashboard. For other overnight parking questions, call Marin County Parks at 415-473-7608.
What rules matter on the water?
Marin Parks instructs boaters to maintain a 50-foot separation from the shore to avoid disturbing sensitive ecosystems, and to follow restrictions for fishing, wildlife and protected areas. The county also warns that mobile phone service may be unreliable.
How should people prepare?
Check wind forecasts and tides, verify a boat’s required safety equipment, tell someone the intended route and return time, and review the latest fish and shellfish regulations before taking anything from the water. Leashed dogs are permitted at the launch, but fires, camping at the launch itself and unauthorized drone operations are prohibited.
